Just a brief update that my blog has been pretty broken

I've had to save posts because they haven't been posting correctly, and it would seem they are still not in regards to actually showing the images. Sorry for the large bombardment of posts at once, they just haven't been posting at all until now.

I will work on getting my pictures to work soon, but at least now everyone knows what i have been up to. :)

Annika Eriksson Live Lecture

Although not relevant to my practice, i enjoyed this live lecture. It was good to see something a little different, and i enjoyed the stories and ideas behind her work. I thought the videos were very well put together and were enjoyable to watch. I found it quite interesting how a simple concept could create some impact.

Artists using holograms.

Jacques Senechal
I really love the colours and use of Holograms with Senechal's work, i find it particularly interesting that it doesn't specifically look like a hologram alone, and the use of layers really creates depth within the work. It's not a typical hologram which makes it very interesting to look at, which i am aiming for within my own work.

How holograms are made.

"Holography is a technique which enables three-dimensional images (holograms) to be made. It involves the use of a laser, interference, diffraction, light intensityrecording and suitable illumination of the recording. The image changes as the position and orientation of the viewing system changes in exactly the same way as if the object were still present, thus making the image appear three-dimensional.

The holographic recording itself is not an image; it consists of an apparently random structure of either varying intensity, density or profile."

I happen to have found a video on youtube that i will post about a kit i have found which makes the process seem somewhat easier. I may just have to buy the set to try it out. But the results look very promising.

Holograms

One thing i have had interest in for a while is holograms, which i feel could link in with the direction of my work nicely. I thought holograms would be a nice replacement to the "illusion card" used within my exhibition piece, so i have been looking into it more deeply to understand whether it is doable. I will also have a conversation with Andy about it.

Marvin Gaye Chetwynd and Tala Madani

Headed down to the contemporary, and i really enjoyed these two exhibitions! I liked Tala Madani's use of humour in her work (even though the subject matter feels a bit like a taboo! haha)  Although i missed the live performance of  Marvin Gaye Chetwynd (if you don't count a talkative cousin Itt), i really like how you make the connections within her work to things you have seen, it's fun to recognise things and made me feel an instant connection with the pieces.
